Who inspired you to start dancing ?

"Michael ! My cousin and I would dance to "The Way You Make Me Feel" video. I was about 4 or 6 years old, I was putting my mother's heels, I was playing the role of the girl and my cousin was doing Michael. Dancing came naturally. I never said that I had to do auditions or that I had talent. When music was there, dance was there, it was normal."

As a songwriter, where do you find your inspiration ?

I write my songs as an outsider. When I had my rock group, we had songs like "Wasted" or "Clepto". These songs were really written for people who are going through these particular situations, and so that they could see themselves in the lyrics. Nowadays, R&B songs talk about the same things, everything sounds the same. I try to make songs that touch a lot of people. I have songs for older people, or younger, teenagers that don't feel good with themselves...etc. I try to touch the more people I can with the lyrics and that's why for songwriting, I draw my inspiration from stuff that can happen to anybody.

What is the best in being Teyana Taylor, being famous ?

For me, the most important thing is to see that we motivate and inspire young people. That's all that matters to me. Success and glory are only 5% of this industry, the rest is the work. But people only see the 5% and it's a pity. But to see a young person that looks at you with big eyes full of admiration and that shows you how much he loves you. That proves that you do your job for them, not for the glory. I don't do this for popularity. Knowing that I can change one life, is fully enough for me.

You're a superstar overseas, what is the biggest moment of your career ?

I don't really realize yet. I feel like living in a dream, especially when I perform on stage. That is my biggest moment : living my dream ! That's what I always wanted to do. And performing on stage, seeing the love people give me, and them knowing my songs, it's incredible.

You signed with Interscope, how did you felt when you knew you were about to sign ?

I think my mother was more excited than me ! I always wait to see the papers in front of my eyes to believe it's real. I don't like to get hyped when something isn't yet concrete and sure. Of course I thought it was amazing, but it's when I saw the contract that I knew it was real.

Tell me about your collaboration with Kanye West ?

It's a crazy encounter for me ! We have planned to work together again for my projects ! Kanye is a genius and a real hardworker. I have great memories about this collaboration !

I heard you might sign with his label (G.O.O.D. Music) ?

Haha ! [Talking to her sister] I tell him or not ?! There's something in works but it always gonna be via Interscope.

What's next for you ?

Well, there's a new single with Jadakiss that I just played for you ! And tomorrow I'm shooting a video right under the Eiffel Tower ! I love Paris !
